Have you ever sat in line for an hour and a half, just to receive a burger and fries? No? Unfortunately, I can say I have.
I waited an hour and a half to pay for a ten dollar meal that consisted of a mediocre hamburger and some pretty good fries. But in that hour and a half time period, I had so much fun. The wait was actually so fun I didn’t even notice it had been that long.
Thinking back, my friend and I were in a period of waiting, but we didn’t waste it. We enjoyed each other’s company, made good memories. We didn’t sit in the car pouting because the wait was so long; we laughed, sang, danced, and interacted with the people around us. We didn’t let that time go to waste.
Often times when we’re in our season’s of waiting, we take our eyes off God and see what we’re not getting. We want it to happen on our time, not God’s. Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and future.”
Isn’t that so reassuring? The God of the universe has plans for you. Whatever season of waiting you’re in, don’t take your eyes off God. Continue chasing Him, trust His plan for you.
I think as we wait for our launch date, it’s so easy for us to distort between what we feel like matters and what really matters. We fall into this attitude of ungratefulness in our season of waiting.
How many things can I thank God for in this season? How has God opened my eyes in this season? How many things has God still given me in this season? How can I have joy in this season?
Something that’s been hard for me, is having joy and continuing to have joy through the season. Philippians 4:4 says, “Always be full of joy in the Lord. I will say it again: Rejoice!”
It doesn’t say sometimes. It doesn’t say when you feel like it, always be full of joy.
Your season of waiting may not look the way you thought it would, it may hurt a lot more than you were expecting. But hear me when I say this, friend: Don’t waste your season of waiting. Find joy in the way God is moving. Ask God for joy daily. Your season of waiting is just as important as the other person’s season of rapid miracles. Believe God for that miracle, and while you wait, praise Him.
